We want everyone at Journal to get the most from their time living in Melbourne. That’s why our community life program, Journal Life has full program of activities with a focus on health, culture, community, studying and leadership. Our events are designed to introduce students to each other, support academic achievement and wellbeing, and help everyone explore the city of Melbourne.

Journal Merit Scholarship

Once you are living with Journal, if you demonstrate academic excellence or a commitment to community service you may be eligible for a Journal Merit Scholarship towards the cost of your next year’s accommodation.

 

Journal Equity Scholarship

If you are an Australia or New Zealand citizen, Australian permanent resident or a permanent humanitarian visa holder you may be eligible for a Journal Equity Scholarship towards the cost of your accommodation.

For current Journal students we also offer internships to give students real world professional experience in various industries, community organisations and local service providers.

Your residential leaders

Working with our professional student life team, our Student Leaders provide a link between Journal residents, staff and management. Student Leaders support all residents to get the most out of their Journal experience. If you’re a great communicator, becoming a Student Leader is a fantastic way to develop your own leadership skills, while helping to enhance our vibrant community.

Journal is beautifully designed, the location is perfect, and you get everything you need to set up life as a new student in Melbourne. I think the communal areas would enhance the university experience as they have separate spaces for studying and socialising, making both more enjoyable.

Under 18s at Journal

At Journal, under 18 students have the support they need to feel safe, happy and healthy. We offer a secure and supportive environment where younger students can focus on study with everything they need, including bigger common spaces where everyone can socialise safely.

APPROVED PROVIDER

Journal is proud to be an approved Under 18s provider for younger students living in Melbourne.

SAFETY

Staff onsite 24/7, dedicated Under 18 events and big social spaces for students to hang out safely, provide parents and students with peace of mind.

SECURITY

With CCTV, controlled access to the facility and secure access to your room, security is assured.

COMMUNITY

The Journal community program is designed to help Under 18 students learn life skills, make friends and enjoy a real sense of belonging

We’re just minutes away from universities offering pathway courses – making the walk to and from college quick, easy and safe.

Anyone could feel at home here. The studio is sleek and modern, I love the warm feel of the room – lots of timber, but with a touch of industrial style. And the fact that there are so many amenities in this building means students save time travelling, leaving more time to study.

The rooms are super modern and funky. It’s awesome because loving your living space is so important. And it’s really well located – it couldn’t be much closer for me, RMIT is a 5 minute walk from Journal. I like Carlton, it’s not overly crowded or loud but really close to everything and lots to do.
